Overview Echoes of The Backrooms
E.O.T.B is a first-person psychological horror game set in the eerie world of the Backrooms. Inspired by the unsettling vibe of liminal spaces, I aimed to create a cinematic yet creepy version of the Backrooms experience. PROTOCOL 11 Episode 1
You play as Oliver, a mechanic working in a secret underground lab where a non-government organization is experimenting with time travel. But when one of the machines malfunctions, it creates a dimensional paradox, opening a portal to the Backrooms—a place where time and space warp in unpredictable ways. Your mission is to find a way back to reality or risk becoming trapped in this twisted Horrifying dimension.
Quick note from the dev: This game was built from scratch by a single person me. Achieving this level of Optical quality and sound design was a Gigantic challenge. So I’d really appreciate it if you could overlook some minor issues like machine–translated text or a slightly clunky graphics optimization tool.
Technological Features: The game was designed with a strong focus on atmosphere and stunning visuals, powered by Unreal Engine 5.3. It uses next-gen 3D lighting technology with Lumen, incorporating both software and hardware ray tracing for real-time lighting, accurate global illumination, and ray-traced shadows. The sound design is equally immersive featuring Microsoft’s Project Acoustics for Geospatial and binaural audio plus Dolby Atmos for three-dimensional precision making the game feel Astonishingly lifelike. However the game also includes NVIDIA’s next-gen upscaling tech DLSS and NIS to keep the game running smoothly without Offering visual quality. The main menu might seem a bit complex, but it’s packed with all the options you need to customize the game to your liking.
