Overview CATO Buttered Cat
CATO Buttered Cat is a cute puzzle platformer inspired by the buttered-cat paradox meme cats always land on their feet, and toast always lands butter-side down. So, strap some buttered toast to a cat’s back, and you get a crazy spinning, floating butter-cat in perpetual motion! I Am Your Beast
The game Concentrates on two characters Cat and Buttered Toast and you will need to use their unique interactions to solve puzzles across each level. With over 140 main levels and more than 60 side levels, there’s plenty to explore. Whereas you will also find hidden rooms challenging bosses and fun mini games along the way. Plus, in the full version, you’ll be able to collect 30+ skins for both Cat and Toast!
You’ll control the cat as it runs, climbs, and even slips through tight spaces—cats are like liquid, after all! Meanwhile, the toast jumps like a projectile, and the longer you hold, the farther it flies. When you combine the two, you trigger the paradox, allowing the cat to reach places that seem impossible.
CATO takes you on a puzzle filled journey through five unique worlds with all kinds of quirky contraptions. From toasters (Toast: “Nooo!”) to buttered trampolines and speedy space pipes (Cat: “Meow!”), you’ll need to figure out how to navigate the wild environments. You will also meet some Enigmatic companions to help solve the More complicated puzzles.
Whenever the game is all about solving puzzles with just a little bit of action thrown in. Most of the time, you won’t need to worry about complex platforming, but some annoying enemies will try to get in your way. Thankfully your abilities will help you take them down. As you progress you will unlock mini-games that can be played anytime in your cozy hideout.
CATO: Buttered Cat also hides secret rooms that you can only find through hidden passages. These spots might have Easter eggs from other games or drop rare items. Bring your finds back to your hideout switch up your outfit and head back out for more adventures!
As for the story behind the cat and Salute. There are pieces of it scattered throughout the game just waiting for you to discover.
The game was created by Team Woll, made up of programmer Blasin and artist Frank, who met during the BOOOM Gamejam 2022. Their project, CATO: Buttered Cat, received so much positive feedback that they officially formed a studio to develop the game. After two years of remote collaboration, it’s their first game, and they’re excited to share it with you!
